The Big Draw: Festival Highlights 2011

Launched as a one day event in 2000, The Big Draw has now become a month long festival in October held in various venues across the UK. The festival's aim is to connect individuals with their surroundings and wider communities, and of course, to promote creativity across all ages. We have selected a few events across London, so have fun and get drawing! 

Goal
Unicorn Theatre
October 8th 2011
11am - 6pm

An exciting day of FREE art and craft activities, workshops and performances of Billy the Kid. Paint a Window of Wonder, help knit a Winter scarf for Spike, our friendly Unicorn, plus many more fun-filled activities. A great ‘hands-on’ day for visitors of all ages.

The Big Draw
Battersea Arts Centre
October 15, 11-5pm

The Drawing Theatre is a collaboration between professional artists, tutors and performers in a spectacular fusion of theatre and drawing designed to inspire and excite. For this special Big Draw event we will be working with with innovative and prolific performance artist, Philip Li who fuses together performance, sculpture, music, fashion, ceramics and styling into a live and unique-styled vision.

The Future of Poster Art
British Music Experience

This year the BME will be looking at the future of poster art in the digital age, working with visual artists Mike Mc Innerney and Ed Firth you will be have the opportunity to take your static images and bring them to life, working with music as your inspiration!

Screen Printing Morning

Join professional artists for a morning of screen printing at Bainbridge Studios.Create your own personal designs to screen print on to t-shirts and cotton bags.

Big Draw Fun at Polka Theatre
 October 22nd 2011 

Two drop-in sessions will take place for ages 4 - 6 (must be accompanied by at adult) and ages 7 +  Create flying ducks, swimming ducks and ducks of all sizes and colours that you can take home or display at Polka.

Deloitte Family Day
Seeing Sounds
Sunday 23 October 2011 12-5pm
Sackler Centre for Arts Education

Join artists for a multi-sensory workshop exploring the relationship between colour, sound and touch. Seeing Sounds is inspired by the Anri Sala exhibition.
Deloitte Family Days take place at the Serpentine Gallery. All ages are welcome to these free, drop-in events. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Portraits
October 28, 11.30 to 4.30pm

 Bring your children, parents, aunts and uncles,brothers and sisters and draw each other with watercolour paints. Make a self portrait, or do an instant makeover, invent anew you as you would like to be. create whacky monster portraits. Come and have fun.
